Microscopic photograph of two capillaries protruding through an air/water interface and interacting via their menisci. We constructed a precise electronic microbalance and were the first to report experimental data of the strenght of the interactions on an absolute quantitative scale. The data are in very good correspondence to the theoretical predictions and demostrate interesting non-linear effects in the cases were no theory is available yet.
